We had a wonderful turnout at FYCreatives on Wednesday 6th April where all the groups involved could meet and see the completed quilt displayed publicly for the first time.

Lynn Setterington gave and artist talk and then cut out wedding cake which everyone involved enjoyed!

The Wedding Quilt is in the process of being packed up to be sent to St James’s Palace at the end of this week.

The Wedding Quilt is now on display in the window at FYCreatives, Church Street until Monday 11th. If you get a chance, please come and take a look at some of the beautiful work which has gone into the individual squares.

Just put the finishing touches to the quilt, Hana’s envelope of sewn signatures arrived on Thurs so a last minute dash to add another row of 12 signatures. The finished quilt measures now 161 cms x 186 cms and is made up of 168 sewn squares and looks really wonderful.

It will be on display in the window of FYCreatives opposite St John’s Primary school from Monday 4th April, come and find your signature and see who else has signed up.Well done everyone, see you at the celebrations Wed 6th April 3 til 4 at FYCreatives on Church Street.

A BUSY WEEK

Everyone is working very hard to finish the quilting this week. It is great to see it all come together and everyone’s delight at finding their signatures and stitched images of Blackpool dotted around the quilt.

More open sessions this wed at FYCreative on Church St 10 til 12 and Horsebridge Community Centre 2 til 4pm. All welcome

THE QUILTING BEGINS…

The quilting started in earnest this morning at Claremont Park Community Centre. The top sheet has now been assembled and this was the first time people had been able to see how the finished piece would finally look.

Quilting sessions are taking place all week, and if you would like to get involved it’s not too late! There is a session open to the public at Horsebridge Community Centre during the Open Door Project table top sale. Wednesday 30th March from 1.30-3.30pm.

Don’t forget, the Wedding Quilt will be on display from Monday 4th April for 1 week at FYCreatives, Church Street.

Sarah Jay’s wednesday morning Arts for Health group have been busy making squares for the quilt.

Lynn informs me the topsheet is now nearly sewn up and will be ready for the quilting sessions next week.

PUTTING IT TOGETHER

The quilt is looking fabulous, piecing it is great fun, remembering all the names and individuals who have worked on the quilt. There are some beautiful examples, can’t wait to see the whole thing together and begin the final “quilt in ” next week.
